The Sherpa Packers Story

The Sherpa tradition started in the mountains of Tibet, where the local inhabitants assisted travelers moving through the beauty and majesty of the mountainous regions.  The Sherpas helped carry the travelers' gear and set up their camps.  This allowed the travelers to focus on getting the most out of their experience.   Sherpa Packer, Ltd began with the pioneering efforts of Theo Umlauf.  Cyclists on the big bicycle tours in Colorado offered to pay him to transport their gear and set up their tents.  The Sherpa Packer, Ltd business was born.  Over the years it has expanded to offer a valet tent and transport service for riders coming in from around the state, the country, and the world to enjoy the Colorado high country on bikes and motorcycles.  After twenty years of service to the touring community, Theo is retiring.  In 2018 Sherpa Packer, Ltd transitions into Sherpa Packers, LLC with a new owner, Peter Crawford.  Peter has been working the bike tours for 30 years as a sports massage therapist.
